From Material to Finished Component

Most manufactured components pass through several operations. The best production route depends on part geometry, material, tolerances, finish, quantity, tooling requirements, and final application.

Remove Material

Machining, EDM, broaching, cutting, drilling, grinding, and related methods create features by removing material from a workpiece.

Form Material

Choose the process from the part requirement.

Different manufacturing methods can create similar shapes, but they do not have the same tooling, tolerances, economics, material limits, production rates, or secondary operations.

Process selection should start with the finished part, not with a preferred machine.
